Our Approach
Brick City Sports is a non-profit organization that believes in athletes -- ALL ATHLETES. No matter your personal struggle, your cultural background, or your financial options, if you love basketball Brick City Sports is here for you.
All athletes will have a placement "tryout". This is not a traditional tryout but an assessment where our coaches determine which level is appropriate for you. BRICK CITY SPORTS DOES NOT HOLD ELIMINATION TRYOUTS AT ANY TIME. This is for placement purposes only with the goal of keeping players, volunteers, referees, coaches, and families safe. Tensions can run high in any sport and it is important that we keep every player safe and every volunteer safe.

Youth
Our youth basketball program welcomes ALL ATHLETES, regardless of background, challenges, or financial situation. As a public non-profit, we provide a supportive space to grow, compete, and develop both on and off the court. We foster confidence, leadership, integrity, teamwork, and discipline, building character alongside basketball skills.

Every athlete completes an assessment to ensure safe and appropriate placement—never a traditional tryout, no one is turned away. Our coaches create the best experience for all players while fostering a strong community and a love for the game in a positive, enjoyable environment.

I know that player tensions can run high. There have been fights. Then I know that a player in LAUSD was stabbed in the 2024-2025. Instead of seeking help, students stood around and recorded on their phones. What are you doing for security, and how will you teach your players to help each other instead of being spectators?
Ensuring the safety and well-being of basketball players goes beyond physical protection—it includes fostering respect and maintaining mental health. We prioritize player safety by enforcing proper techniques, using appropriate gear, and matching players with opponents at their skill level to prevent frustration and injury. Respect is a core value, taught through teamwork, good sportsmanship, and positive communication. Additionally, we monitor mental health by encouraging open conversations, providing access to support resources, and helping players manage pressure. By balancing skill development with emotional well-being, we create an environment where players can grow confidently and enjoy the game.
